Robot escape

When I wrote this poem it was a sort of challenge to myself. I had this idea for a very short story about a robot escaping from a place by taking itself apart and then putting itself back together again.

I also wanted the poem to be really short. I chose the Limerick form to give me some structure. It turned out to be really tricky to get the story into this shape and I had to try lots of different words and rhymes before it worked out.

Added value

Wilm drew the poem up and sent it over to me. Once again he had really added something extra to the words. I loved that the robot had rebuilt itself slightly wrong in the final panel. I loved that especially because I hadn’t thought of that as a possibility. It’s a great example of how pictures can really enhance words by telling something more.
